LET US HELP TAKE THE STRESS OUT OF FINDING THE RIGHT CHIROPRACTIC PROVIDER.

What is the best way to schedule an appointment?

The easiest way to get an appointment is to visit our contact page.  With just a few short pieces of information, we can get you an appointment that fits your schedule. You can also text or call Dr. Donato at: (518) 538-8200.

I have been diagnosed with a tear. Do I need surgery?

A common misconception about the term “tear” is that the muscle is completely torn and requires surgery. This is often not the case. The first thing we need to know, whenever the word “tear” is used, is what grade tear or strain the injury is. The terms “tear” and “strain” are synonymous and the grade level (1, 2 , or 3) and denote an amount of muscle fiber disruption and loss of muscle function. In the absence of certain “signs” (bruising, indentation/sulcus, etc), most strains are grade 1 or 2 and respond well to conservative treatments like Active Release Techniques. Many of the conditions I regularly treat in my practice are Grade 1 and Grade 2 muscle strains.

Will I have to stop moving and/or exercising while under going treatment?

Our goal is to keep you active. However, in certain cases, reducing and/or restricting movement and activity is necessary to help you get through the acute inflammatory stage of your injury/condition.

Chiropractic care, including Active Release Techniques® (ART), is designed to help you move better and easier, and almost all appointments provide post-visit exercises to help you stay loose and promote healing. Additionally, the doctor might recommend you keep doing your favorite sports and activities (possibly with some modifications as needed). A lot of patients continue to train for endurance sports like running or triathlons while receiving treatment, however, this does not apply to every patient. Ask the doctor what is best for you and your unique treatment plan.

Do you take insurance?

Donato Chiropractic is not a participating provider with any insurance companies. If you wish, the doctor can provide the necessary paperwork to assist in reimbursement.

How long does each appointment last?

For new patients the initial appointment is scheduled for 60 minutes.  Each follow appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes. Occasionally some appointments may be shorter or longer based on the needs of the patient.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.)® entail deep tissue massage and stretching of affected areas.  Depending on the location of the issue, some patients will wear shorts, short sleeve shirts and / or other active wear to allow the Dr. to properly manipulate and stretch as needed.

What time should I arrive?

To maximize the time spent with every patient, and for the consideration of others being seen after you, please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Dr. Donato requires 24-hours’ notice if you can’t make your appointment. Canceling with less than 24-hours’ notice may result in being charged for the appointment. However, we also understand that life has its challenges and emergencies, and we will do our best to work with you for special circumstances.

Will I go onto a maintenance program after my treatments have concluded?

In most cases, no. Unlike many other chiropractic providers, we will constantly communicate with you to see where you are in your care. If you feel your issues are resolved, there is no need for further appointments, unless you have a reoccurrence of the issue or a new problem arises that you would like to have evaluated by Dr. Donato. It is always the patient’s prerogative to be able to schedule appointments as they feel they are needed.

“For more than five years, I’ve benefited from Dr. Donato’s ART treatments. During this time I’ve had ART treatments for my knees, feet, ankles, neck, back, shoulders, and hips. I always get relief from the treatments and lasting benefits from exercises, stretches, and foam roller movements that I do at home.” – Dominic M.
