Meet Dr. Keith Donato

For over 30 years, I’ve been studying one thing:
Why does the body compensate, and how can we help it move better?
My career began in Southern California as a personal trainer, where I developed a fascination with human movement and performance. That passion led me to earn my Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1995 and build a private practice focused on helping people overcome pain and return to the activities they love.
Over the years, I realized that lasting results required more than simply treating symptoms. I became committed to understanding the underlying movement patterns that drive pain, injury, and dysfunction.
That pursuit led me through a series of advanced training programs that continue to shape my approach today.
In 2006, I became fully certified in Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.) and joined the elite ART Provider Network. During that time, I worked with endurance athletes as an official treatment team member for IRONMAN® triathlons and provided onsite injury prevention and treatment services at Capital Region manufacturing facilities, including Sealy Mattress and PepsiCo.
Working directly with athletes and industrial workers gave me a unique perspective on how movement demands shape the body.
In 2012, I expanded my movement assessment skills through Functional Movement Systems (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), allowing me to better identify the movement limitations and compensation patterns contributing to pain.
Today, my work is heavily influenced by the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI), an approach that examines how breathing, rib cage mechanics, neurology, and asymmetrical movement patterns affect the body’s ability to function efficiently.
While many people know me as a chiropractor, my work has evolved far beyond traditional chiropractic care.
I consider myself a Human Movement and Biomechanics Specialist—someone dedicated to understanding how the body moves, why it compensates, and how to restore more efficient movement patterns.
My goal isn’t simply to help people feel better.
My goal is to help them move better, perform better, and stay active for years to come.
The search for a deeper understanding of human movement continues every day—and that’s what keeps me passionate about this work after nearly three decades in practice.

I felt a substantial amount of relief during the treatment, followed his post treatment suggestions, and the next day I was able to move back into to my running plan. – Amy B.
