Gait Analysis & Human Movement Evaluation
See How Your Body Moves—And Why It Keeps Hurting
The way you walk and run reveals far more than fitness. It shows how your body absorbs force, where it’s compensating, and which areas are quietly working harder than they should.
Those compensations can work for a while, until they become tightness, recurring pain, inefficient movement, or injuries that keep coming back.
I combine advanced motion-capture technology with hands-on clinical assessment and movement-based care to identify the root of the problem, not just the area where symptoms show up.
Most Gait Analysis Stops at the Feet. I Don’t.
Your feet don’t move in isolation. The way you walk or run is influenced by how your entire body works together: your feet, hips, pelvis, spine, ribcage, posture, and even your breathing mechanics. When one area loses efficiency or stability, another area compensates.
That compensation pattern is frequently where pain begins.
My evaluation looks at the entire movement chain to understand why your body moves the way it does—and why certain problems continue to return.
This whole-body approach helps uncover the drivers behind:
- Foot, ankle, or knee pain
- Hip and lower back discomfort
- Chronic tightness that never fully resolves
- Running inefficiency or recurring slowdowns
- Repetitive stress injuries
- Balance and stability issues
- Ongoing pain despite previous treatment
What to Expect During Your Assessment
You don’t need to be an athlete or prepare in any special way—just wear comfortable clothing you can move in naturally.
During your visit, I’ll analyze your walking and running mechanics using MotionMetrix markerless 3D motion capture technology. Because there are no sensors or physical markers attached to your body, you move naturally—allowing me to capture an accurate picture of how you move in real life.
I evaluate key mechanical factors, including:
- Stride mechanics
- Weight distribution and loading patterns
- Ground contact timing
- Joint movement efficiency
- Postural control and balance
- Movement symmetry and coordination
You’ll see your movement visual data on screen and receive a clear, plain-language explanation of what’s happening and why it matters.
An Assessment That Actually Changes Your Treatment
A report only matters if it changes what happens next. What we learn during your analysis directly guides your treatment and movement plan.
Care may include Active Release Techniques (ART®) to address restricted muscles and tissue, along with neuromuscular movement retraining, posture and positional strategies, breathing mechanics, and strength integration designed to improve how your body functions as a whole system.
The goal isn’t simply temporary relief. It’s to help your body move more efficiently, reduce recurring stress patterns, and build long-term resilience so you can continue doing what you love.
Who This Is For
Gait and movement analysis is designed for:
- Runners & Active Adults: Optimize your stride and protect your joints.
- Athletes Seeking an Edge: Uncover hidden movement inefficiencies to improve performance.
- Injury Recovery: Ensure you are rebuilding proper patterns, not compensating around old damage.
- Chronic Pain Sufferers: Anyone frustrated by treatments that only provide short-term relief.
- Proactive Individuals: Anyone who wants a deeper understanding of how their body moves through space.

Having had back and knee problems for years, I needed to find relief while still being able to enjoy weight lifting, biking, swimming and running. I was referred to Dr. Donato from one of my coaches and felt an incredible improvement in my range of motion and pain symptoms. I can honestly say Dr. Donato is the reason I am able to lift more, run farther, and stay active. I can’t recommend him highly enough – Mark B.
